The idea for this blog came to me in the early morning hours a few days ago. It is SO amazing how God works...how He brings people across our path or circumstances into play that lead us to a certain point. I have been reading the daily blog of a former pastor and been so inspired. I have recently been directed to the blogs of the daughter and daughter in law of my college friend as they chronicle the joys and challenges of motherhood.
Writing is a joy for me...has been all my life! Since my children left the "nest", I have been looking for more ways in which to use this gift for the Lord. I have toyed with the idea of writing a devotional. I'm always "writing" in my head. Then suddenly the other morning as I awoke and couldn't go back to sleep, the idea came to me to write this blog as a daily devotional.
As I contemplated exactly how to do it, I began to wonder "What will I call it?" And then, I KNEW! Years ago....maybe 20 or 30 years....I came across this verse in Psalm 139. When I read the words "wings of the morning" I KNEW that one day I would use that as a title. In fact, in my Bible those words are put in quotes and there is a star by that verse.
It never ceases to amaze me how God weaves the tapestry of our lives, using the good and the bad, the commonplace things and the extraordinary, the seen and the unseen, the people we love and complete strangers....all threads in the Master Weaver's hands as He skillfully constructs the tapestry of each life. We've often heard it said that from our perspective that tapestry looks like a tangle of threads....at times a real mess. But from HIS perspective, it is the work of art He always intended it to be. I think it will be so exciting when we get to Heaven and see all the different elements He used to weave our particular tapestry! I know we will be amazed!!
So here I am 20+ years down the road from the moment I read that verse, knowing it would title something. The 21st century has dawned, technology, the internet, and BLOGS.........God has used it all to bring me to this "stitch in time". It is all part of the divine design. I pray that HE will use it not only in my life, but in yours and that as you read these daily entries you will be touched by the Master Designer as He uses the "threads" of this blog to weave a masterpiece in your life.
