TRUST OF A CHILD

With the wind blowing through her hair, our granddaugther soared higher and higher as I pushed her in her swing. She was filled with delight, her entire face smiling as she joyfully leaned back her head, absorbing every drop of glee that she could from her favorite thing...swinging! As I watched her, I too, was thrilled with the pure joy of watching her.

I could not help but think as I watched her enjoying such a simple pleasure, how lucky she was. No cares...no worries....just total peace. She was not worrying if there would be food later to eat, where she would lay her head that night, or if there would be anyone there to take care of her needs. She did not worry because she was confident that those who love her would provide everything that she needed and would care for her.

Is that not how it is supposed to be with our Heavenly Father? He has promised to care for us...to meet all of our needs. He who clothes the lilies of the field and cares for the birds of the air...will He not much more care for us, His children? Of course He will. Then why do we fret?!

Oh that we could come to a place of such utter trust and confidence in Him that we, like my granddaughter, could just relax and enjoy His presence, knowing that He will take care of all of our needs.

The lines of a song I've quoted here before come to mind:

Then in fellowship sweet
We will sit at His feet
Or we'll walk by his side
On our way.
What He says we will do
Where He sends we will go
Never fear
Only trust and obey.
Trust and obey
For there's no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
But to trust and obey.
Today may we throw back our heads, drink in the beauty of all that God has placed around us to enjoy and trust Him as a little child! Maybe we all need a good swing!!!!!!!!!!
